Green Is Your Colour

I have gravitated towards green a lot lately, and I am yet to be disappointed. Green looks good on many skin tones, especially if you go for a shade that compliments your undertone. Warmer greens with yellow undertones look great on warm skin tones, so think olives and chartreuses. Opting for cooler, blue-toned greens will look stunning on cool skin tones; think emerald and pistachio greens. But this is all down to personal preference at the end of the day, so make sure to pick a shade you love, so you will feel beautiful.
Green can seem difficult to work with, but it is surprisingly versatile! If you are stuck on colours to pair with green, check out my post and discover 10 colours that look great with green to help you out. As you will see, I chose metallic silver for this occasion.

Slip Into Satin

This dress is a shift dress. I love satin dresses; they honestly are my go-to. I have many satin dresses in different fits and styles, but the silhouette I love most is the loose-fitting shift dress. The shift dress looks so effortless, but the satin gives it a luxe feel; there is something very 90s and Y2K ‘it girl’ vibes about satin slip dresses. They are also very versatile; you can go for a meal out and not worry about looking bloated as the fabric isn’t as clingy as a satin corset or body con dress. Shift dresses also help to avoid one of the main issues of tighter-fitting dresses: you don’t have to constantly pull them down, so you are safe from wardrobe malfunctions.

Take a Dip

The dress is a cowl neck; I love this neckline for any occasion. Cowl necks show just enough; they are perfect if you want to avoid a deep plunge but are not wanting to go for the conservative high-neck options. Just like shift dresses, cowl necks are designed to look effortless, creating such an elegant aesthetic because of how delicately they frame the décolletage. The dress is also essentially backless aside from the criss-cross straps; this provides the perfect opportunity for an undo hairstyle; I chose not to as I was going for a particular aesthetic, but this look would look stunning with a sleek high bun or pony. Just to note, the straps are adjustable, so you can adjust the dip in the back to go as low as you feel comfortable.

Lets Talk Shoes & Bags

For me, the shoes and bag were the main characters of this outfit. I went for metallic croc-effect platforms and paired them with a matching cross-body bag. I love pairing vibrant colours like green with silver jewellery as I appreciate the contrast, so when I saw these platforms, I just had to swoop them up. I have briefly mentioned the 90s/Y2K ‘it girl’ vibe, and I thought the platforms were the perfect fit for achieving this look. I wanted to bring texture and dimension through accessories hence going for the metallic and croc effects. As I was styling, I was thinking about how I would style the outfit for the holiday season, which we are currently in and honestly, I would totally wear this outfit to a Christmas party; it is all the right colours, that is, for sure! However, I would wear this any night of the year.
This is a side note to confirm these shoes are comfortable to walk in due to their being block heels and a platform, so don’t let their height deceive you. Practice a little before committing to them for a night out if you are new to the platform world.

Jewellery, Hair & Makeup

So I touched upon the fact that this outfit would’ve been right at home styled with an updo, but I chose a half-up, half-down curly style. As I have mentioned, I was going for a 90s vibe; this hairstyle fits well with the aesthetic, so I chose to commit and go all the way with it, but if I were to repeat the outfit, I would try an updo the next time.
I only wore a small silver diamanté feather pendant and chose to not wear earrings. Once I had finished styling my hair, I thought adding earrings would crowd the look up too much, so I remembered Coco Chanel’s advice and chose to go without. I have tried this look with a layered choker necklace, and I did love the look, and it also tied the aesthetic together very well, but it was more of a party wear style than I was after on this particular occasion. I stuck to the usual natural makeup look to finish the aesthetic, and the natural look helped clean up the look.

Scent Check

Lastly, perfume time! The final and perfect finishing touch of any outfit.

I chose Dolce & Gabbana’s Dolce Garden. I was influenced by its name, ‘Garden,’ because I wore green. It is a creamy almond coconut scent; it was a great choice as it is not too strong or offensive, so perfect for intimate gatherings.

Perfume: Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Garden
