What is the Classic Style Personality?
Classic style personalities prioritise quality over quantity! That is not to say that you don’t have a lot of items in your wardrobe. You make sure to invest in timeless classics that will remain stylish regardless of fashion trends, and so you may achieve this by only purchasing a few items at a time. You are opposed to splurging on multiple trendy items that may not even last a season.
Like the natural style personality, you like low maintenance clothing as they allow you to maintain your look, style and aesthetic throughout the day. However, contrarily to a natural, you probably prefer a tailored pencil skirt to a full skirt.
You love to look effortlessly put together; you prefer to look elegant and refined so you wear classic colour combinations and complementary styles that offer a clean and coordinated look. Your goal is to have a classic, stylish capsule wardrobe with quality garments allowing you to maintain a collection that stands the test of time.
Emanate Elegance- Clothing For The Classic Style Personality
Think: simple, smart and straight lines; these considerations will guarantee that you choose timeless styles. Consider clothing that drapes well and elevates your silhouette in an understated way; pencil skirts, A-line skirts, structured dresses and tailored trousers provide a structured look.
Tailored shirts and jackets will offer an elevated and refined look that maintains shape throughout wear. Houndstooth, gingham and tweed are timeless options worth considering. Additionally, a white t-shirt is an excellent and timeless staple for casual occasions. As for outerwear, my go-to garment is a trench coat. They come in various styles and colours and provide a simple, elegant silhouette.
Clothing Top Tip: Suits and coordinates are classics that guarantee a coordinated look, consider similar styles in various colours.
Remember to consider fabrics when choosing garments; comfortable clothing reduces the need to readjust garments throughout the day, ensuring that your look remains consistent. I suggest you opt for high-quality fabrics such as silk to ensure that your garments look well-kept therefore maintaining your refined aesthetic.
Consider opting for fabrics that do not crease easily; this is particularly important when considering skirts and dresses, as when you sit down for prolonged periods they tend to crumple.
Fit Top Tips: It is essential to confirm that clothing fits correctly, so always check size guides, especially when online shopping. Additionally, stretch helps provide a flattering fit but remember that excessively stretchy fabrics can appear clingy.
Sophisticated Strut- Shoes For The Classic Style Personality
If you fall under this style profile, you may mirror my affections for heels. A simple court heel or classic heeled pumps are a great way to elevate your classic outfits, particularly when wearing skirts or dresses.
However, if you prefer a flat and comfortable alternative, I recommend classic styles such as loafers. Loafers are incredibly versatile; penny and tassel loafers are timeless and provide an understated cohesive finishing touch to your outfit, especially when wearing trousers.
If you prefer a middle ground, why not try a low-block Mary Jane court heel? They are more comfortable than stilettos but an elevated alternative to a flat style, particularly if you want a heeled shoe for an occasion.
Shoes Top Tips: I recommend you experiment with different finishes; patent finishes offer an elegant shine. Explore neutral colours as they can be refined while offering some versatility.
Stylish Statements- Bags & Accessories For The Classic Style Personality
You probably have a simple, natural makeup routine. It is unlikely to feature bold colours; however, you may be a fan of the classic red lip and French manicure to bring together your aesthetic in a sophisticated, traditional way.
Leather or suede bags retain structure and are timeless if they are of high quality. Leather bags, in particular, come in timeless styles that are both practical and stylish. Handbags, totes and satchel bags are my suggestion to ensure an elegant look.
Bag Top Tip: Consider colours and finishes that match the finish of your shoes to provide a wholly harmonised aesthetic; for example, accessorise patent camel patent court heels, with a patent camel tote bag.
Avoid over-accessorising with jewellery. Simple, delicate, high-quality gold or silver necklaces are timeless; ensure that any pendants are small to achieve an understated look.
Additionally, simple earrings and watches will complement your aesthetic more than dramatic alternatives. Try to ensure you match the colour of the metals of your jewellery consistently throughout your accessories.
You should also experiment with belts to create a smooth appearance when tucking shirts. Ensuring that the belt has the same finishes as your bag and shoes (i.e. patent) will further coordinate your outfit.
Accessories Top Tips: It may be beneficial to purchase statement jewellery for dressier occasions. Choose a piece that mimics the colours in your wardrobe to maintain a consistent look. Remember that anything that is too trendy may age quickly.
Polished Palette – Colours For The Classic Style Personality.
As a classic, it can be assumed that you stray away from crazy, bold colours. Additionally, you also may avoid wearing multiple bright colours in a single outfit because you prefer classic colour combinations. I suggest you consider adding some pastels to your wardrobe for some muted modern freshness.
Black, grey and white are very easy to implement, and they are likely the colours you frequently wear. I suggest you also utilise other neutral colours such as beige, khaki and navy to add some versatility to your wardrobe. Monochrome outfits are also very timeless and are reliable when wanting to achieve a refined aesthetic.
Colour Top Tips: I suggest picking at least one bold colour to work into your wardrobe to elevate your style when you want a more creative look. For instance, invest in pink clothing and pink accessories; that way if you ever want to wear pink in your outfit, you have the means to ensure that it is well-coordinated.
