I Know The Dress Code Is Casual, This Is Casual

Brown Outfit Ideas - Brown Plaid Flannel Shirt & Brown Plaid Tennis Pleated Skirt - Brown Outfit Inspo For Autumn

Got the feels for plaid? Can’t help but reach for that flannel shirt? Check out this outfit Idea

As promised, I am back to deliver on my promise to bombard you with plenty of outfit inspo. I am excited to post this outfit as I think it is so cute and casual but with a pop of glam. So, let’s get right into it, and I hope you enjoy it or, even better, recreate it.

Fan of Flannel

Who doesn’t love a flannel? They are so casual and convenient. My favourite thing about them is that they can also be dressed up if you want to elevate a casual look. This flannel shirt is plaid, which I love. Fans of the preppy or old-money aesthetic will most likely be familiar with this chic pattern. Although this is a shirt, I wanted to avoid just wearing it regularly. As you can see, I used it as an accessory as appose to a top.

Feel free to step even more out of the box and develop more inventive ways to wear it. I even added this little tank top on the inside because it matches the colour palette perfectly and is basic enough to pair with the flannel without making the outfit too busy.

Keep It Coming..

I am finally ready to admit it, “I am a sucker for a matching set”. When I saw the matching skirt AND discovered it was a pleated skirt?! You know I had to scoop it up. There were no second guesses or hesitations. It is very lightweight and great for warmer months, but I prefer to wear these colours in autumn, so it is up to you whether this falls in your summer or autumn inspo.

I love this little pleated skirt, but I must warn you that it is pretty short, as with many tennis skirts. I recommend wearing shorts underneath if you don’t feel comfortable. However, wearing this skirt in autumn/winter means you can wear tights for security and an extra layer of warmth (especially if you live in a cold climate like me).

Let’s Talk Boots

Now for the star of the show. I am obsessed with these brown croc knee-high boots. When I first put this outfit on without the heeled boots, I was on the fence as I thought it was a lot more casual than my usual outfits but as soon as I added these boots? That all went out the window. These boots are why I will wear this outfit repeatedly, for as long as I find it excusable.
These block-heeled boots are pretty high, so if you are not used to wearing heels, it may be tricky to wear them all day comfortably, but if you are going somewhere for a few hours, I am sure you will be fine. One thing I love about knee-high boots? They stay up! They keep the same shape, and that’s why they are so magical because you can ensure that your aesthetic stays in place for as long as you wear them. I, of course, love the colour of these boots, and I am forever kicking myself for not picking up a pair in black (but it is never too late! Opens new tab).

Jewellery, Hair & Makeup

As this was a casual day, I completely skipped on the jewellery; I kept the makeup more minimal than usual by skipping out on nude lip gloss. As for hair, I went for a middle part, puffy curls. Super casual and easy to achieve.

Scent Check...

Finally, perfume: the perfect finishing touch piece to achieving your aesthetic.
I chose Kayali Vanilla-28 This perfume is gorgeous and smells like melted hot brown sugar blended with caramel, vanilla and creamy yummy goodness. If you can get your hands on a bottle, I recommend you go straight for it.

It is sweet, soft and sugary; you will literally smell like a snack. It is my easiest-reach fragrance to wear by itself. But it also layers deliciously over practically every perfume I own, so I always use it to add a sweet layer or to bring out the vanilla in other scents.

That’s all for now!

Feel free to take inspiration from this outfit and add your own twists and ideas so it is more catered to your taste. Remember not to put too much pressure on yourself; style is about what you feel comfortable in.

You don’t have to follow all the trends and wear things just because other people wear them.
Stay safe, have fun and wear what you want!

Until next time fashionistas,
Unique.
