Are you a natural style personality? Don’t know what one is? Read on to find out.
In my introductory blog post, I briefly mentioned that I classify my own style personality as a mix of classic, romantic, and ingenue. Some of you may well think I am talking absolute gibberish!
So, I wanted to kick start this new series so you can clue up on a variety of different style personalities, what I know about them and how to identify your own style personality. So up first is the natural style personality.
What is the Natural Style Personality?
Would you describe your style as relaxed, easy-going and fuss-free? Would you also agree that for you, confidence is rooted in comfort? Do you adore the feel and quality of natural materials? Then you will likely relate to the natural style personality!
My interpretation of a natural style personality prioritises comfort over everything. Consequently, You may find that you always reach out for that one t-shirt because you know it is comfortable! This does not necessarily mean that you do not value style, but you make sure that your outfits are easy and relaxed, ensuring you maximum comfort and no hassle; after all, to you, comfort is style.
You like low maintenance clothing that requires minimum care to maintain its look, style and aesthetic. For instance, you most likely favour a loose cardigan over a structured blazer, as the loose fit of the cardigan leaves you extra room to breathe and move with ease. You are most likely a relaxed person, and you like your style to mimic your demeanour. You don’t want to fuss and faff over intricate laces and complicated fastenings while getting dressed, you simply find them impractical.
Effortless Chic – Clothing For The Natural Style Personality
I would recommend wraps, loose-fitting shirts, shift dresses and loose-fit sweaters because, you likely value practical clothing that does not interfere with your ability to carry out your day-to-day tasks. You don’t want to overthink outfits; you like clothing that takes minimal thought to put on. You may also find coordinates too high maintenance and opt for separates as you can mix and match as desired without hunting down the matching garment.
Loose fit jeans, shorts and loose-fitting flowy skirts will be appreciated by the natural style personality. You value comfort, and these items are offered in comfortable styles that you can ensure are not too restrictive or tight. For example, you can choose mom jeans or boyfriend jeans instead of tight skinny jeans.
Fit Top Tip: Look out for clothing with adjustable waistbands; therefore, you can tailor the fit to meet your comfort needs.
Definitely consider oversized and unstructured clothing with a relaxed fit for maximum comfort. Layering is your best friend (or it should be!) You like fuss-free garments and a fuss-free life; therefore, layering makes sense with your style profile because, in hot weather, you can remove a layer to ensure you stay at the perfect temperature, likewise add a layer if it is too cold.
Clothing Top Tip: When shopping, keep fabrics in mind; try cotton, linen, and cashmere. Natural, versatile materials of supreme quality that offer the comfort you crave.
Beauty Is Pain? Nah – Shoes For The Natural Style Personality
Long story short, I love heels; In fact, I swear by them, but if you fall under this style profile, I am willing to bet that you probably disagree with my affection. Instead, you prefer flats and the comfort they bring you. I would recommend comfy flat style: brogues, loafers, ballet pumps and boots.
Shoes Top Tip: If you do want to dabble in heels, I recommend a comfortable block heel or a pair of wedges and that you steer away from a stiletto if the thought of heels fills you with dread.
Perfectly Practical- Bags & Accessories For The Natural Style Personality
Just to briefly cover makeup, you probably prefer to go without, but if you do like to wear makeup, it is likely to be very natural, toned down, and not feature bold or unnatural colours.
Let’s discuss bags; you likely put versatility on a pedestal. You want a sensible bag that is big enough to fit everything you need with you throughout the day but not so big that it is challenging to carry or haul around. Bags to you may just be storage space; you may not be inclined to purchase overly flashy bags with intricate fastenings; you want a practical no-fuss solution. I would recommend a slouchy tote to contribute to your relaxed approach to style; they are a suitable size and easy to throw over the shoulder.
Bag Top Tip: Chic backpacks are the perfect hands-free casual solution.
I bet you are not naturally driven to buy accessories, may not even give them any time of day or may even think they are a bit of a nuisance with all the fiddly clasps and fastenings. However, I recommend you toy with some easy to throw on necklaces, a simple pair of stud earrings, scarves and hats, a classic watch, a belt and even some scrunchies.
Accessories Top Tips: When investing in accessories, make sure that you keep in mind to opt for easy to wear pieces, so they do not feel like an inconvenience to add to your daily routine. Also purchase an occasional statement piece of jewellery, so you have the option to dress up an outfit for dressier occasions. Side note: Wool baker boy caps and cashmere scarves are handy for those cooler lazy days.
Inspired By Nature – Colours For The Natural Style Personality.
Leafy greens, earthy browns, autumn reds, sky blue. Do you see a theme? Good! I am trying to emphasise that as a natural, you are probably naturally drawn to colours you see outside in nature, hence being a natural style personality! You probably love neutrals, not too bold or striking but easy to coordinate with other colours.
Colour Top Tips: For an effortlessly coordinating outfit, go for a simple palette and avoid putting together outfits featuring starkly contrasting colours. If you find yourself in need of some colour inspo, go outside and be open minded about each colour you see; maybe try a rose prickle red instead of rose petal red!
